It helps your body adjust to high altitude and reduces the risk of altitude sickness before summit day. Acclimatization day is your secret weapon for summit success. By increasing your altitude and letting your body adapt, you give yourself the best chance to reach the  Kazbek summit strong and healthy.

This is your opportunity to learn and practice the techniques you’ll need for the glacier and summit climb: rope handling and safety techniques, proper use of crampons, harnesses, and helmets, glacier travel tips and self-arrest techniques, gear check and personal adjustments. Day 5  Mount Kazbek Summit attack

Your Mount Kazbek summit attempt begins in the early morning, around 2:00 a.m. We wake up at 1 a. m to start our final ascent to the Mt. Kazbek peak.

Before departure, our experienced mountain guides will give final instructions and check that everyone is fully prepared. We monitor the weather conditions carefully to ensure a safe climb. If the forecast is favorable, we begin our journey under a star-filled night sky, guided by headlamps lighting the trail in the darkness.

After about 3 hours, you arrive at The Plateau at 4,300 meters—a major checkpoint on the standard Mount Kazbek route. This area is known for strong winds and freezing temperatures, so proper layering and high-altitude awareness are essential.

From the Plateau, the route becomes steeper as you climb toward the saddle at 4,900 meters. This is the last rest point before the summit attack.

This part of the climb requires full concentration. The glacier becomes steeper, and altitude makes breathing more difficult.

The last section—from the saddle to the summit—is the most difficult and demanding part of the Mt. Kazbek climb. The trail has a slope of 40 degrees, often icy and exposed.  Teamwork, proper pacing, and precise footwork are crucial. After about 6 hours from Betlemi Hut, you’ll stand on top of Mount Kazbek at 5,054 m.

Standing on the summit of Mt. Kazbek, you’ll experience a feeling like no other. The panoramic views of the Caucasus Mountains stretch endlessly in every direction. You’ve reached one of the most beautiful and iconic peaks in Georgia. This is more than a goal—it’s a triumph of endurance, determination, and spirit.

After celebrating at the summit, we begin our descent back to Betlemi Hut. This phase requires just as much focus as the ascent. Descending on glacier terrain can be tricky—team coordination remains important.

Back at Meteo Station, you’ll rest, rehydrate, and reflect on the incredible adventure you’ve just completed. You overnight 1 more night at Meteo station.

Day 6

The next morning, after enjoying breakfast, we’ll coordinate the transportation of your luggage. If needed, a horse guide will arrive at the Kazbegi Meteo Station (Betlemi Hut) around 10 to 11 a.m. to collect the prepared luggage. The horse will then carry your belongings down to Stepantsminda, where they will be safely stored at our agency, ready for you to pick up.

The descent back to Stepantsminda will take approximately 4–5 hours, with the trek leading us to the beautiful Trinity Church. From there, a car will transport you back to Stepantsminda, marking the end of your incredible  expedition to Mt. Kazbek!

After completing the adventure, you have the option to extend your stay in Stepantsminda by relaxing at a guesthouse for another night, or you can choose to return directly to Tbilisi, as per your preference. Either way, this marks the conclusion of an unforgettable journey on your Mt.  Kazbek climb.
