Mount Kazbek climb is not technically difficult. However, you need to be physically fit and have some mountaineering experience. If you’re new to this, it’s best to climb with a certified mountain guide for safety.
Private Mount Kazbek tour itinerary:
Day 1: We will meet at our office Mountain Travel Agency MTA in Stepantsminda. Upon arrival, climbers will overnight at a cozy guesthouse in Stepantsminda, with double or triple room accommodations, (breakfast is included) preparing for the Mt. Kazbek climb ahead. It is also possible to meet at the airport of Tbilisi or Kutaisi with extra price.
Day 2: After breakfast at about 9:00 a.m., climbers will head by car to the Sameba (Holy Trinity) Church, From Sameba Church, the trek to Sabertse begins, with mountain guides assisting in transferring luggage to Kazbegi Meteo Station (also referred to as Betlemi Hut). Climbers will carry only small backpacks with essentials.
The trail from Sameba Church to Sabertse is moderately easy, offering stunning views of green valleys and Mt. Kazbek in the distance. Along the way, climbers will experience the serene beauty of the Caucasus Mountains. Wearing sturdy trekking boots and packing water, snacks, sunscreen, sunglasses, and waterproof jackets are essential. Safety is our priority, and climbers are encouraged to follow advice from our experienced mountain guides, who provide guidance and tips along the journey. After approximately 3 hours, climbers will reach Sabertse and spend the night in tents, surrounded by the calm of the mountain wilderness.
Day 3: Acclimatization at AltiHut and Kazbegi Meteo Station To enhance the acclimatization process, an optional overnight stay at AltiHut (3,014 meters) is available. AltiHut offers modern amenities, making it an excellent choice for climbers to prepare for higher altitudes before continuing to Kazbegi Meteo Station.
The trek from AltiHut to Betlemi Hut (Kazbegi Meteo Station), located at 3,650 meters, is both challenging and rewarding. Climbers will navigate rugged terrain and glaciers, learning to use essential mountain equipment such as high-quality climbing gear, including crampons, ice axes, and harnesses. Professional mountain guides will provide training and assistance, ensuring everyone understands how to use the gear effectively.
Upon arrival at the Kazbegi Meteo Station, climbers will retrieve their luggage and take part in an extended acclimatization walk. This crucial phase involves practicing climbing techniques, adjusting to the altitude, and exploring nearby trails. Climbers will experience colder temperatures and thinner air during acclimatization, but this process is essential for reaching the summit of Mt. Kazbek safely. Dressing in layers and communicating with mountain guides about any symptoms of altitude sickness are vital during this phase. Many climbers practice this technique, they hike to a higher altitude at 4000 m, and return to Meteo station. a lower altitude to sleep.

Climbers will wake up at 1:00 a.m. to check weather conditions and begin the ascent at 2:00 a.m. Equipped with headlamps and small backpacks, climbers will navigate icy sections, rocky terrain, and snowfields using high-quality climbing gear.
The climb from Kazbegi Meteo Station to the summit offers awe-inspiring views of glaciers, mountain ridges, and pristine snow-covered landscapes. The ascent requires endurance, but with professional guidance from our mountain guides, climbers will progress steadily toward the top. Reaching the summit of Mt. Final Day: Return to Stepantsminda Base Camp On the final day, the horse guide will assist in transporting luggage from Betlemi Hut to the Stepantsminda Mountain Travel Agency office. The descent from the Kazbegi Meteo Station to Stepantsminda takes about 4-5 hours. Climbers will finish their journey with lasting memories, a sense of accomplishment, and stories to share about their incredible Mt. Kazbek climb.
