Mount Elbrus Expedition Itinerary:
Day 1 – Arrival and Preparation
We meet you at Mineralnye Vody Airport or Tbilisi. You’ll be transferred to our base, where we finalize gear rental, meet your guide, and brief you about the journey ahead. After that, we head toward the Elbrus region. Rest in a cozy mountain hotel or tent, enjoy your first taste of Caucasus cuisine — Shashank with Tuzluk — and breathe in the adventure.
Day 2 – Mount Cheget Acclimatization
We hike to Mount Cheget, enjoying jaw-dropping views of Elbrus and Baksan Gorge. It’s a day to awaken your legs, fine-tune your breath, and build strength gently. We descend by cable car and return to a warm dinner — Zhelbour, a local delicacy.
Day 3 – Devichi Kosi Waterfall
With light packs, we ascend through forests and alpine meadows to a stunning waterfall and the Observatory. You’ll feel the altitude, but also the growing rhythm of the mountain. Dinner brings Khitchin
and Shorpa — hearty mountain food for a mountaineer’s soul.
Day 4 – Ascent to the Mountain Hut
We take the cable car to the snowy flanks of Elbrus. Settle into a mountain hut — regular or VIP, your choice. This is your new home above the clouds. We go over essential ropework, crampon walking, and ice axe skills. You’re learning the language of the mountain.
Day 5 – Acclimatization to 5000m
An early start takes you higher — up to 5000 meters. The thin air will test your lungs, but this day is key for a successful summit. Slow steps, deep breaths, and silent snow underfoot. You’re close now.
Day 6 – Rest and Summit Prep
A rest day, unless the weather demands an early summit. We rehearse self-arrest, check our gear, and walk
short distances to stay limber. Tonight, we sleep early. The summit waits.
Day 7 – Summit Day – Elbrus at 5642m
At midnight, under the stars, we begin. Roped up, headlamps glowing, we climb. The hours are long, the winds are sharp, but the summit — oh, the summit. When you reach it, everything changes. Time, effort, pain — it all dissolves into one incredible moment. Welcome to the top of Europe.
Day 8 – Descent and Celebration
We descend from the hut, some using snowcats if needed. Back to the valley, warm showers, real beds. We visit the forest springs or Russian banya, then celebrate with a feast. Medals, certificates — proof that you stood where the air is thin and the sky is close.
Day 9 – Finish Mt. Elbrus expedition
After breakfast, we travel to Pyatigorsk, stopping at Narzan Meadows for fresh mineral water. From there, you catch your flight — but part of your heart stays on the slopes of Elbrus.
