Guided expeditions in Chaukhi
Day 1. You are in Stepantsminda at 1700 meters above sea level. We will meet in our office MTA and proceed with check-in at the comfortable guest house. Double or triple rooms with meals are available.
Day 2. Early morning after breakfast transfer to Juta village, from where will continue the way to Chaukhi massif (3850 m). Chaukhi is one of the most famous mountain in the Caucasus. Chaukhi is a very popular hiking trail in Georgia. We acclimatize to Rcheulishvili peak.
We will overnight there and the next day we will continue our way to Mukhadze or Tikanadze peak. They are just walking and rated 1 level. You do not need much mountain experience. But if you are a good climber and these peaks are easy for you, we will reach other difficult peaks, such as Rcheulishvili, Javakhishvili, and others. They are difficult and rated 3 levels. Walking to these peaks (one of them) takes not more than 6–7 hours.
We return to Stepantsminda. Rest and overnight in a comfortable guesthouse.
Day 3. Early morning after breakfast transfer to Sameba Trinity Church, where we are going to pick up the horses for the trip. They will carry your luggage directly to the Meteo station You will carry only small backpacks with you. We will continue the way to the Meteo station. (7–8 hours walking).
Overnight in tents or inside Meteo station (extra).
Day 4. Acclimatization day.
Return to Meteo station. Overnight in tents.
Day 5. At approximately 2:00 a. m summit day. Your expedition will start as your guides will take you to the top of Kazbek. It takes about 12 hours to reach the top and return to the Meteo station. You will rest and spend nights outside in tents.
Day 6. There will be a reserve day just in case there is bad weather. It should make you to be able to repeat the climbing attempt. If you reach the plateau and would like to go further above, it is going to be at extra costs.
Day 7. In the early morning, our horse guide will take your luggage back to Stepantsminda. Afterward, there will be a descent from the Meteor station to Stepantsminda. Finally, from Sameba Trinity Church, transfer down.
Day 8. Departure home.
